Fuel problem
Fuel problem
I have a 2009 F-250 King Ranch with 107,000 miles. The truck looses all power driving down the road (60 mph top speed). Have to turn the truck off and restart and it will run fine. Sometimes for days sometimes for 5 minutes. Took to the Ford Dealer and the code shows high pressure fuel bypass (or something like that). Mechanic recommended buy some Hot Shot Fuel Additive and see if that fixed the problem. Have ran 3 tanks of fuel with the Hot Shot added. Still have the issue. The mechanic was very adamant that this would fix the problem.Any other suggestions before I shell out $2,500 for a new injector pump?
FYI: It seems like the hotter it is outside the more frequently the issue.
Thanks in Advance.

Yes, I change fuel filters regularly. I took it to the Ford dealer where I bought it. They are the ones who ran the diagnostics. The code they said was the high fuel pressure bypass. They said it was sticking open. That is why they thought the Hot Shot would work.....but to date has not.
Today I poured some Hot Shot in with the upper fuel filter. I guess we will see what that does.

Here's hoping it has good lubricity, as dumping that much of anything other than fuel in the secondary fuel filter seems a bit dangerous to me. Here's hoping that if you don't have a bad HPFP this doesn't cause any damage.
