Well it still wouldnt let me PM you the info you want so I will post it below
Must be wrong on post count maybe 30 posts IDK for shure your getting really close though

And If your AE has the FORD Enhanced Bundle you will be able to check all kinds of things really everything like FICM and HPO system. And you will also be able to do Ford specific Testing since you can control Valves and Actuators ie... VGT,IPR and more

your set with AE

OPERATING VALUES
Just make shure the numbers are taken exactly like this
Truck in PARK OR NEUTRAL all times during test
ECT at 190* or close to And EOT at 185* or higher
-------------------------------------------------------------------
KOEO=Key On Engine Off =record value
Low Idel (truck idel on its own)=record value
High Idel (2500RPM)=record value
And the last set of numbers are sensor operating range. If it falls out of this range I beleive a DTC/CEL will be set.

Was what you supplied me on here done with AE? To be honest I have only used AE to look at individual sensors and never did anything on scale of what you want me to do with it. I have used the balance test and shut injectors down as well as turbo control and EGR but to retrieve what you sent me is more then what I have ever did with AE. I guess I feel a little stupid now, but I need to ask If I can, How to do this procedure with AE so I can get those numbers to you?

I do understand you need readings with key on engine off and readings at idle and at 2500 rpm.....

My head exploded a little bit as well when I seen the post. I hope when he gets the time he can explain how to do it and maybe break it down a little. I have the AE with the proline but I would not call myself anywhere an expert with it. not enough time with it to know all the ins and outs.

I used to build race engines back in the 80s and 90s as well as being a part time crew chief with drag cars and scca cars. None of which had anywhere the level of computer controlled stuff on them. I am much better with gas engines but since my truck has been out of warranty I have needed to jump in and take over the repairs of it. This is the first time I have been stumped with a problem with it......

Lets break one Down for you Everything working right these are the operating values you want to see For RPM

RPM 0 628 2500 0 - 4096 RPM Revolutions Per Minute

KOEO=0rpm
Low Idel=628rpm
High Idel=2500rpm
Operating Range of said sensor=0-4096RPM

This is the imporatant stuff
Basicaly you can break each sensor Down like this even in collums and rows if you want

So if you know how to control things with AE You have the hard stuff figured out the rest of it is just taking your readings and compare to the List as the List is the Value Per a Good Sensor

Does this Help Any???????????????????????????

I am thinking Cheezit may have used the ford software for this information and AE displays and does it a little different so I may have to do some translation. The things I will read will be FICM voltage, ICP pressure, IAT1 and IAT2 and the IPR at all the RPMs needed. If I recall, the idle control of AE would not allow it to go above 2100 because I used this feature to do the coolant flush a little over a year ago. I have a few versions newer since then....

Dont Make it so Involved with the AE

Guess Im saying dont USE AE to try and SET RPM to HIGH Idel

Just check these sensors same as I do with my ScanGaugeII I just put the sensors I want to see on the screen and then I CONTROLL RPM with my Foot on Acelerater Pedal

Basicaly you want to set AE to READ SENSORS IN REAL TIME and YOU control RPM with the RIGHT FOOT And use the Dash RPM Gauge

This will get close enough you can even set AE to read RPM so you take the value exact perfict time using a Digital RPM Readout from AE

Dont Try to Have the AE control RPM just set it to read Sensor values

These Values I have posted are GOOD with any SCANNER as long as it reads right

Your AE will Do it just FINE

Your AE with the Ford Bundle Figures the Values Same as a FORD IDM Scanner

Oh and Dont worrey about IAT1 & IAT2 for the time being

EGR Actual and EGR desired will tell you more than IAT1 & IAT2

Are you getting a CEL/DTC for IAT1 & IAT2 or something??????????????????

I have a 2004 with a very similar problem but it also blows black smoke just before it misfires. So, when engine is hot, under power (over half throttle) first I see black exhaust start. If I keep my foot in it, the exhaust gets darker and then the misfire happens. Going up hills, I am forced to keep backing off the throttle to keep this from happening. I did change the FICM Because I was told it was the main culprit. It did not fix the problem.

any ideas?
