79 F250 timing question
79 F250 timing question
Hey guys I have a 79 f250 4wd with the 6.6 motor It has about 4000 miles since rebuild. It was bored .030 over with a rv cam new edelbrock 4 barrel carb. It has Accel super coil with Accel cap rotor and wires and long tube headers. The book say the timing should be set at 8 degrees I set it at 8 and sometimes when it's warmed up I shut it off and it wants to spit and try to run. I have tried to play with the timing back and forth. It seems to still do it. It doesn't do it every time but it does do it quite a bit and I want it to be right. Any suggestion? I wanna thank u ahead of time for any help

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->The engine's "dieseling" after shut down, there's a few possible causes...
Idle speed is set too high
Timing is too far advanced
Carbon build up in the cylinders
Engine is running too hot
Or running too rich
Until you get it resolved just shut the engine down under a load, i.e. stall it.

That's what I have to do with mine most of the time since it likes to diesel if it's been running for awhile.
