Hey everyone I recently bought these slotted aluminum wheels for my truck and later found out that my lug studs ar about 3/4 to an inch too short for the wheel. The wheel mounting surface is all an inch wide so there is no stud sticking out to catch the lug nuts on, so I've been looking around for stud kits and everything and I was wondering what you guys thought. I know studs aren't very easy but the front end is apart now anyways, so what are your thoughts? Where can I find whole kits for this? Is it worth it? Any thoughts are appriciated
^ Ditto, your studs aren't too short, you need the lug nuts with a 1" shank and a flat washer, 1/2" x 20, i bought mine on ebay, Gorilla 4 packs for $5.99 each, free shipping.
P.S. post up some pics after you get your slots mounted, i recently mounted my slots too, totally transformed the look of the truck.
That's awesome, never heard of these, and you can count on that pic, I wanted to paint the truck black, but I didint want black wheels to so im hoping they'll shine the truck up nice. Btw does anyone know how to find gvrw with no tag, Im trying to order king pins but they want a gvrw giving me a choice of like 6100-6500 or 7800-8000 or so just wondering if I can punch my vin in somewhere to find this out
If i had to guess i'd assume your GVWR is the higher of the two options, but i can't be certain, i'm not as familiar with specs on the 78/79's, the GVWR on my '75 F250 4x4 is 7,700lbs.
that is news to me on kingpin issue,I purchased my kit for my 79 axle from 4 wheeel drive factory had to chase the threads on the inner c 1 1/8 x 12 tap.locktite and cranked her down
Here in my town in WA, I can go to the local Tire shop and buy chrome lug nuts for $1.00 ea. They buy in bulk and sell 'em cheap! Just my 2 cents worth for nuts!
