I don't have a scanner like some of you guys, but I can assure you that the 1980 Pickups brochure clearly states under the seat trim option checklist section:
Folding Seat Back (for Customs)
I looked at the 1981 brochure on Han's website, and it doesn't show it either. It must have just been a 1980 thing.
I was gonna say, just use a camera if you don't have a scanner. A scanner generally makes for cleaner pictures but can be a hassle to use.
I have vague recollections of something seat-related by some manufacturer(s) in the 70s & 80s but don't remember the specifics... Was it "This seat attribute is now available as an extra-cost option?" Or "...is now standard?" Or, what? I really don't remember....

This disappoints me to no end...here I thought that I had the strippiest stripped-down Custom to roll out of Kansas City in 1980, and you tell me that the folding seat back is optional...meaning that it's possible that there's an even crappier Custom out there than mine.
Gary, if you'll re-read one of my earlier posts, you can see where I referenced the 1981 brochure on Han's website. According to that brochure, the folding seat back was standard on all trim levels for 1981, because the option is no longer in the seat trim list.

Don't feel bad, my 86 doesn't either haha. Planning to add one in a couple weeks. You interested?
I think I have one of the plainest trucks around too.
Mines a XL, factory rubber mat on the front half of the cab, bare metal behind the seat. Power nothing. No air conditioner. Hi-Lo heater. No CB. I think the truck originally came with a mono AM radio. Shortbed. No dual tanks. Idiot lights instead of gauges. No tachometer. No factory fog/driving lights. No under-hood lamp. No passenger side dome light switch by the door, but I unhooked the drivers side (I'd rather hit it manually, a nice feature when out in the deer woods and you don't want the dome light on if you get out of the truck). No under the dash lighting. No glove box lighting. I did however get the bench seat with the latch on the back that lets you tilt it forward to access the behind the seat storage.
My luxury items on my truck include power steering, power brakes, 4 wheel drive, a 4 speed with an inline-6, and a back bumper made by the previous owner as well as a new model radio and speakers with mechanical temperature and oil pressure gauges that were "not-so-uncommonly-previous-owner-installed" as opposed to dealer or factory installation.
