Key ignition kills all power

I had to hook up a push button starter because when I turn the key in my truck it cuts off all power?? What in the world is going on?

If you are talking about all accessories shutting off with the key in START, this is done by design. It allows maximum power to the starter & ignition for starting the engine.

If you are experiencing something else, please be EXACT and SPECIFIC as to what is happening.

I am assuming (and we all know what happens then) that the truck will not crank when the key is turned but will when you jump the solenoid with the button. Could be your switch, a grounding issue, a short...

As Chris said, we need more information to truly figure out what the problem is. Also, did you recently change anything on the truck?

Do you have the stock alternator? If so can't help the feel that these threads are related to that 500w amp and sub install recently

This has been doing this for months. It has nothing to do with the sub setup.
I have a hei dizzy so it has to have the 12v to give spark, well when I turn the key it completely kills that 12v. I hooked up a starter button to the solenoid and it starts fine

This tells me you hooked up the HEI to a power source that gets shut off with the key in START (by design, as explained above).

Which circuit did you tap into? What colors are the wires?
