trans fluid drain/fill

trans fluid drain/fill
i've never done a transmission fluid change on an autotragic, but my understanding is that not all of the fluid drains out. the specs i read say my truck takes 16 quarts of dex/merc, how much should i have on hand for a drain/fill and filter change?
