Finnaly got te voltage to drop. But unlike everything I've read when switched the truck on to let the plus warm up the voltage was at first 48 then Droped to 21 for a few seconds then back to 48. Cranked the truck and it remained at 48.5v although my batteries on the other hand looked bad they were around 11.5v while truck was running I'm guessing that's bc te plugs were still on? Bc after a while it jumps to 12.5-12.9v but never goes above that :-(

I think you have a WEAK charging system and It has ALSO Taken Out the FICM

normal volts is 12.6volt Float
and 13.0-13.8volts running

Going to hijack this thread a little as its does relate to my issue or possible issue. I am was on the 7.3 forums talking about my 2nd truck I bought for everyday driving 99 7.3 with 3.73 rears. I told them my tow rig got CRAP mileage and could not drive it everyday. 03 6.0 F350 DRW, Crew, 4.10 rears, predator tow tune and only 90K. Truck only gets 10MPG and they are telling me a should get more then that. That possible issue is FICM. I have lost 3 injectors over the years but when I lost one I would change out the whole side with rebuilt ones. Seems to drive OK but does need to have lost some power. I have lost my battery's once a year or so ago and had to replace them both. I have not lost an injector after they were all replaced with rebuild and now running Stanidine in every tank. Also changing oil at 4500 and fuel filers every other oil change to be safe.

Could the 10MPG be the FICM? Also I get 10MPG loaded or pulling 32 foot Trailer. well not exact 10 on both but within 1 MPG either way.

Who is ED that I could send to for rebuild if this is the case?
Will EGR delete help on this truck?
Thanks

Ok guys had a slight delay..... Alternator that the shop ordered wasn't for my truck...... Got the new on one and after I cranked the truck the first time and let it charge the batteries it cranks totally diffrent now! Before batteries rested at 12.2 with the truck off and charged at 12.8 with truck on..... Now they rest at 12.9-13.1 with truck off and charge at 13.8-14.8 with truck on. This was a much needed fix! Thanks for Yalls input.

On the other hand she still smokes :-(. I do have 4 new injectors for that side of the motor and will get them installed this weeknd hopefully. My question now is how much of that stuff in the complete solution from mkm is necsissary? I know I need and egr delete and I already have a set of studs that I got for FREE! Is the exhaust and intake gasket necissary? I know I will need new head gaskets when I stud the motor. Also what's with the oil cooler? Do I need to get a new one for any reason? Thanks for your inputs guys y'all are ALOT of help.

I put the exhaust gaskets in, but it is really a personal preference (unless you suspect you are/were leaking without the gaskets).

Inpsect the intake gaskets real well - they are re-usable if they have no nicks/cracks/etc. In the end, they are also a personal preference topic. They aren't all that expensive, so I replaced mine.

I should be geting my FICM back from Ed either today or tomorrow with the Atlas 40 turn on it and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it runs when I start it. I believe that my dead alternator took out my FICM. Ed also said that the program that Ford installed is a "FICM killer" and should be changed so I went for the Atlas over the ecno tune. I'll I expect is for the truck to run and anything after that is a bonus.

I'm going to put the FICM in tonight...... whats the chances of my truck being dead in the water and not cranking once i put it in? i was told by the company that the FICM has the latest flash on it therefore it should crank. but i can flash my truck if it doesn't work.

Installed FICM...... Truck fired right up.....no more black smoke..... But the white/gray smoke is still there and I haven't lost a drop of coolant. Is this possibly un burned fuel due to weak/bad injectors?

Might be a good Idea to check the Fuel system out if your eating injectors

Since you Studded and Tunned it there is a Higher DEMAND for Fuel

Its a Pay to Play Deal

you need a regulated Return fuel system
