I put my bed on the 64 yesterday got it all lined up and centered and noticed something odd the bottom front of the drivers side bedside seems to flare out. The bed is completely sqaure and no evidence of being in a wreck could this be a factory flaw? My measurement from the frame to the bottom side of the very front of the bed are 18.5 on passenger side which looks to match the cab and 19.5 on the drivers side which sticks out any advice is appreciated
When Steve removed the drip rails to do the Industrial Chassis shop truck for the classics trucks shoot he found the roof panel was off by about 1/2" from being on correctly. Amazing what factory sins seam seal hides.
knowing about stampings I wonder how much variation Ford allowed before the tooling was rebuilt. As many trucks that were built using the same stampings there must be tremendous variation. I have questioned this because some people claim that LMC parts don't fit right and others say they fit correctly. If LMC used a new stamping vehicle to develop their replacement part it would not fit wore out stamped vehicle correctly and vica versa. The same goes for the different manufacturing locations, if the stampings are different by just a little it would be really noticable on replacement panels.
