Well today the unlock side of both switches stopped working. It seems odd that the lock side still works as I use that more than the unlock.
So why has it stopped working, and what do I do to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
Oh it's my 92 F-150.
If the Unlock function doesn't work from either switch, the
problem is in the driver side Lock switch or a Black wire at the
driver side Lock switch is not grounded.
If you look at the driver side switch there are 5 wires that
go to the switch terminals. Two Black wires go to individual
terminals and also the same two Black wires are spliced together.
If both Black wires are grounded (normal) the problem is the Lock switch.
To verify the switch is bad use an ohm meter. With the Lock switch not
activated you should measure zero ohms from either Black wire to the
Pink/Yellow wire.
If you read open/infinity, the Lock switch is bad.
As I was pulling the switch out, it started to work again. So apparently there was a loose wire on the switch. Which one and how it became loose is a mystery, but as long as it works, I'm not going to worry about it.
