I have heard if you over torque it can shorten it's life.

Most have used Blackstone. Blackstone Labs
If you have a large Caterpillar shop near by, I have heard they can do them in house. (I have heard this, haven't done it)

there are some hugely detailed thread on here about oil selection,
and change intervals, and the problem i see with extending the
change interval, is that their seems to be an issue with oil shearing,
and losing viscosity due to the severe loads put on it with the injectors.

seems that the best course i can find for me, is rotella T-6, and
a 5,000 mile change interval. i have the BPD external oil cooler,
and my oil never goes above 185, no matter what, so my plan is
to run a FS2500 bypass filter, and change both filters every other
oil change. the main oil filter the BPD unit uses is huge...

i was looking at extended drain interval with testing, until i read
about the oil shear here, and on other forums.

You should be able to get what shape the oil is in from the analyses.
My self was looking at it more for the wear and tear of the engine over time.
If you see some thing spike in the metals and you can get an idea where to look.
I have planned to change oil at 5K miles.

We use oil analyses in aircraft (well some do) when you say aircraft the price JUMPS. That is why I was looking for some one else.
One reason for the cost in aircraft oil analyses is you can't just pull over and jump out and have a look under the hood. So some ones but it on the line for the data.

Thanks and pass some around

Well I had the time to do the oil change today.
Here is the funny thing.
This truck was easier than when I did the changes in the 4.0L V6 Ranger.
Ranger filter was at a bit of an angle and would always **** on the tire
same with the pan. Drain on side aimed at tire. Almost always hit it by
splashing out of the drain pan.
This truck was so easy it is silly.
Slide big bucket under truck and remove the drain plug. Used oil
drops straight down into bucket. Switch buckets half way.

This was very easy to all the help offered by all of you out there.
Thank You
Get your self a cold one
Sean
