Hi all, I have a 1999 f350 7.3l with 82600 orig. miles on it and it sounds like there is a ''ringing'' inside my engine. Infact I had a friend yesterday say that it sounded like a squealing pulley. I have another friend that has a 2000 f250 with a 7.3l in it and he says that all the 1999's had this ''ringing'' and that it is normal. Is this true have any of you guys herd of this or is it a problem? I remember reading that the injectors are different in a 1999, is this the reason? What do you guys think?

I have a 99 and never heard anything I would describe as a "ringing" from the engine.
Thanks for the speedy reply guys, I've had my tranny checked about 4 different times and the fluid is clean as could be, and I dont tow with it, so im sure its not that. I replaced the belt myself last summer with a genuine ford belt from dealer. I guess i should've spun the pulleys to see if any one of them squeaked but would'nt a bad pulley be pretty evident?
if its a high pitch ringing, it could be the impeller on your turbo. Shove your camera in there and take a photo and examine it. Or maybe your turbo bearing is going and the impeller is touching the sidewall ever so slightly under load. That is very possible.
