Squeals like hell almost all the time now, occasionally goes away if I hit the brakes, but not always like it used too. still have to try filing down the edges of the pads
This problem has not been resolved. My truck squeals pretty much every right turn now. Sometimes it has to be an almost full lock turn, and sometimes it will squeal just going around a slight highway corner. Also does it going straight sometimes too, thats obnoxious. Goes away with the brakes. Been doing this way over a year, i just did ball joints a few weeks ago and wheel bearings seemed fine, but i figured they would have failed by now?
I changed my pads a short while ago and they have started what your talking about but with mine I believe that the rotors need to be changed. With 223K + miles on them they have the groove from the brake pad shape and I think that the edge on the rotor is causing it to rub the pad now.
Is the shield behind the rotor bent at all that possible in a turn it touches the rotor some?
I checked the brake shields, they both seem really close to the rotor, but not close enough to contact it
Based on almost every thread ive read with identical symptoms, all the solutions were to replace the wheel bearing. So i have ordered a timken wheel bearing assembly and am now hoping that fixes it
Replaced the wheel bearing. Waste of time/money... guess its going to be sold squeaking because I'm not investing another dime into it
I am having the exact same problem from the same wheel except its when I turn the left. The problem started after I was changing out a brake clip that was bent and making a slight chirpping noise while driving. I remvoed the v springs and didn't reinstall them. I started getting a very loud squeaking everywhere I drove. I pull the wheel apart and replaced the v springs as well as the clips with new clips. Now the truck squeaks only when turning left and making light brake applications, although it is starting to get worse. I'm going to buy new slider rotor and pads next to see if that will get rid of the noise.
