As you can see by my signature, I have a 2008 F350. I have 84000 miles on it and I'm looking to change the brake pads. I'm seriously considering using the same ones from the factory, but I would like to hear what everyone else is using. I'm willing to keep my options open. Thank you for your responses.
I have the Hawk Superduty pads and they have lots of metal in them which makes them noisy. Next time I will try the LTS Hawk pads or the Yellow stuff pads.
Ford pads suck! my backing plates rotted in less than two years, i have Bendix pads now i think and the backing plates are starting to rot also. So stay away from them
On the topic of Brake pads....I used to work for a major aftermarket automotive parts manufacturer and out of that one company (one plant in mexico and one in Tennesee) came 85% of all the brakes sold in the US. The ford OE had much stricter quality controls (we made them too) but the only difference between the Motorcraft aftermarket (sold at the dealer) and the other brands we also made and boxed at the same factory were these little metal fingers that gripped the pad to the plate. All the same formulas and between the other brands boxed...there was no difference, litterally just different boxes. Hoped this helps. I cannot speak for all brakes, but it did open my eyes to see how many different brakes moved through that factory. I had always thought that statement about "they are all the same just different name" was a load of crap. It definitely has some truth to it.
