Just purchased a 1987 Ford F-250 with a 7.3 IDI. This is my first diesel and the forum here looks great as I have a lot of questions. This looks like the place to come for advice.

VERY NICE TRUCK! You got the earliest of the what we call, the bricknose body style IDI truck. And the 87 6.9l diesel is the widely regarded as the best IDI engien because it has the upgraded rockers of the 7.3, and the cylinder thickness of the 6.9, which is far less prone to cavitation.

Nice looking truck. As Aune suggested, you have a great basis for the engine. Truck looks nice and clean. I have learned a lot here and you will too!
