hey guys i'm lookin for some help with the vin on this 1979 bronco i've bought. i decided to decode the vin to see what it is suposed to be as far as engine and such and check what i acutually have and get an idea what the PO has done. the vin on the door and door jam are U15HLDE0061, i pluged that into the decoder on this site and it comes back with an error and say to recheck vin. would appreciate some help on this one i figured it would be a pretty straight forward search and i've triple checked the #'s so it just seems odd. thanks for any help guys or possibly gals
I believe the VIN should be 17 characters long. Mandatory after 1981....may be the problem with the decoder site although other info I find says that year would have a 17 character number.

78-79 had 11 digits. The decoder on this site won't be able to decode out vin's.
I would follow the LMC site.
