Just walked out of Taco Cabana with my friend in the rain. Got to the truck across the parking lot and the remote wouldn't work. Deader n a door nail. So we cruised back inside and I dug out my code card, unlocked the truck and drove back to the office. Here, the remote works again. I wonder if there was some jamming issue from another vehicle or something? Anyone else have this happen?

There could have been some other transmitter interfering. It happens occasionally with my car. Did you think about using the key to unlock the door?
I've never tried the key. I thought if the alarm was armed (with the remote) then you had to enter a code on the keypad to unlock/disarm. Besides that seems so old fashioned. I wish it was like my corvette, where the keyfob stays in my pocket. Never worry about locking the key in the car that way.
There is a chance that the battery in your remote needs to be replaced. If it is producing a weak signal you might not be able to start the truck from a long distance or in the rain where signal strength is lost.
If you have a second remote, try a side-by-side test at long distances. Replace the battery if needed.
Use of the key is also a possibility as others have mentioned...
Not to thread jack, but my old truck had an aftermarket Viper alarm. If the battery died in that thing you were SCREWED! You can use the key to get in the truck, sure, but it will not start, and the alarm will sound for a minute. You need to replace the battery in the key fob to start the truck, there was no override. Without a working remote, you are SOL.
My wife has the same in her CRV, she always forgets to change the battery and is often left looking for a store to buy a AAA to replace it on the spot.
I wish I would have known, and I would not have put it in both vehicles. I am tempted to take it out of hers so she doesnt have to deal with it. Literally, the key will open the door, but nothing will turn the alarm off, or start the car. You would think by putting the key in the ignition it would fix, but nope. Nothing we have yet to find fixes it other than replacing the battery. I got in a habit of changing mine monthly just in case.
