Ran the snap on scanner today on the bosses truck and it came up a MAF fault. Can a person clean the MAF or would it be easier just to replace it? Also would the MAF make the truck run like it is lacking power and make the turbo chatter??
Ya the turbo chatters alot and it is very doggie. The snap on scanner makes you put in the vin number of the truck and a computer chip into the adapted that goes into the OBD2 port. This truck has had 4 turbos, 2 new injectors, 2 egr valves and one cooler replaced in it so far. 166k.

4 TURBOES is ALOT I almost have a Hard time beleiving all those were bad IDK Water under the bridge
Hard to know exactly what you mean by turbo chatter on this side the Computer screen. I take it as OverBoost. OverBoost does NOT mean Strictly over 30psi Boost. OverBoost can Happen whenever the Turbo generates more Boost Air Pressure than the Engine can Consume.
Best way I can say it is a CHA CHA CHA sound out the air filter. This is comenly referred to as a Turbo Fart. And Does NOT always mean turbo is BAD as it could do this from a Bad Sensor as well as Multiple other things.
A BAD MAF sensor Can cause this to. Normaly it will throw a DTC I beleive since to me its emision related IDK for shure.
If it were me at this point I would Check the MAF sensor with a DVM see if its in the BallPark BUT just keep in mind the MAF Sensor also Contains the IAT 1 sensor theres a wire Diagram in tech folder if you cant find it post back
That would be the noise it is making. I think we are going to try to clean the MAF sensor and if that is no luck replace it and see what happens. If it still does it I guess it will be back to the drawing board from there. Thanks for the info!
