this guy says he has a "rare" truck with 8" lift. asked him what size tires it had and what was so rare and he replied with it was in really good condition and has 35s. I belive he is wrong on both counts. not impressed with the "rare" condition and mine has a 6" lift with 35s and they look way to small. with the fron drive shaft set up that the trucks have can you even put an 8" lift on one?pretty sure the front shaft would be into the cross member. none the less it is over $10K
Once I get my 75 DOne I may have to sell it on ebay to some poor idiot and make me a mountian of cash lol. Buy me a new truck and trick it out to get 1600HP and a gazillion torque lol.
It does cost alot to build a truck especially good paint and body work, he may have $60K in it but you won't get $75K maybe 25 to 30K tops. My truck is a regular cab and I had over 400 hours of bodywork on mine, paint was approx $22K.
Exactly - the paint & body work, polishing the front grill, chroming stuff, etc. can all cost a LOT if you have a shop do it.
I'm into my crew more than I'd like & I'm in it waaaaaay lower than that, BUT I do all my own work to try & keep costs down. I'm in it over 500 man hours for sure & I haven't even started with the paint yet.
It is very possible to spend that much on something that you are passionate about. I can see $75K if it was like I said earlier, deep pockets and soft hands. I estimate I have roughly 30K in my '48 and it has no interior and the paint is (mostly) original enamal faded by decades of Texas sun. Also all the engine work and fab work was done by me. If I sold it I would never come close to getting back what i have put in it, but i have known that from day one. They are a labor of love. The only people that restore/build vehicles and make money on them are the shops that are being paid to do the work.
I dont know about this truck, but a really good restore can add up d@mn fast.
I've got 23k in receipts and that's not counting Body work. Luckily I have a good friend who is a top body and paint guy, so maybe I can get out of it for 7 grand or so. and I am still ashamed how far my truck is not together. And then I see these SHOW TRUCKS on Ebay for 7500. UGh!!
Point being, this guy might have 75K in to it. But, You sure do need to do some homework. I would want to see every reciept. EFI, Shiny grille and a custom headliner don't get it. There sure as h&ll had better be NO patch work or filler.
Really?? Seriously?? $75,000?? If I was going to put that much Federal green stuff down it would definitely be on a fully restored 1979 F350 Lariat Supercab 4x4 with every option available. At least the money would be on a truck with more rarity..and value!
