My God he is acting like its restored, but then you see that interior with the newer style seats that aren't even recovered right, its got to much metallic blue 'accent' pieces on the dash, and it just looks... ugly?
I like how they used reservoir shocks on the front end as steering dampers, that is so so so something i would do (Sad to say but its true)
75 dollars and 2 bags of skittles is my final offer!
At the 2minute 9 second mark, It looks like the paint is missing between the cowl and door. I saw the light reflections between the hood and cowl, but the other looks different.
In his defense, it DID have a couple trick gizmos. Like the remote start with fuel injection and the automatic steps that swing out when the doors are opened. ....but yes, I can build that truck for FAR less than $75K. I guess it's easy to blow money like that when you have a shop do EVERYTHING. That's why the wiper **** wasn't replaced. He didn't know how to. He'll be damn lucky to get $20K for it.

If it has a bad *** EFI 429 where is it? Why not show it off if it is such a focal point? And remote start on an older vehicle is actually quite simple since there isn't any factory anti theft, I put it on my '48 F-1, don't need it, hell, I don't use it but I had it on my '99, '02, and '06 so it seemed like a good idea when I was building it.
A $2,000 bolt on throtle body kit would put him that much closer to his unbeliveable claim but still.... That is a lot of money to put towards an amazing motor that sounds (didn't) and looks (who knows) as good as it is supposed to run. that and the incomplete and substandard interior still bothers me.
My thought as well. I was waiting to hear the sound of a REAL engine when he hit that remote started, but alas I was let down.

As for the "required" - even here in the "I bleed blue & if you don't you're a moron & don't deserve to breathe" land I think you're out numbered by those of us who would dump the ford gasser in a heartbeat for something with twice the torque AND twice the gas mileage. But to each his own...
Now for the $75k price. I can easily see how once could spend the $75 to get what he did. Would I or most sane people - heck no! Did he - most likely. Will he ever get it back... yeah right!

Yes, I do worship at the oval altar but I have no problem with the cummins engine, Hell, unless I have been told wrong, Ford bought the company.(please let me know if I have been miss informed). There is just something about these trucks that in my opinion seems a little out of place when you hear the rattle a diesel (regardless of the make) instead of the rumble of a big block. as you said, "to each his own". torque can always be made from most any engine but no one drives these trucks for their mileage, we drive them because they are beautiful , timeless works of art.
you are semi mis-informed on Ford owning cummins. They owned a bit under a 50% share a while back and sold most from what I've heard/read.
I do like my truck because it's old, cool & different than the norm. It's also a tank - which I like. What I don't like is crap gas mileage. And I LOVE the rattle of a diesel in these old beasts. Honestly it's what they were really missing from the factory IMO. But again that's just me and your opinion will probably vary.
A gasser can sound nice as well but at the 6 mpg I got out of the 390 the cummins is replacing in the crew - I'll gladly dump it.

Fair enough, no harm, no foul. If you weren't on the other side of the country I would gladly help you loose the old FE, they happen to be one of my favorites. good luck on your swap, plan on doing one in my 78. the 400 for a 514 boss.
some of my old FEs have gone to buddies. They like the things.
I don't mind them, but I just want the power AND gas mileage. I'm pickier about being cheap & saving $ on that than I am on what brand of parts go in my builds.
Anyways - back to figuring out how close to $10k the guy will get for his $75k truck.
Which by the way in my local craigslist add for parts my crew is listed for $50k - well, kinda. I had a bunch of emails asking if the crew in the pics was for sale so I started adding that unless people had $50k or more burning a hole in their pocket I'm not going to talk about selling my crew. It, like everything else is for sale at the right price, but that is MY right price, which is WAY too high for most. I like it - it keeps it from selling
I actually feel bad for the person who thinks a $75K price is realistic. Where do they get it's worth from? I also wonder if they own beach front property in Hamilton Montana and a mountain house in Key West. If so, I have a $120K Hyundai I would like to sell to this person.
