Ciggarite lighter problem

My Ciggarite lighter dosent work on my 79
I havnt really tried to fix the problem(didnt know what was wrong)
O today i Decided to try to fix it
I tested all my fuses, All of them worked?
SO i took out the ash tray and took the sending unit(i think thats what its called)and found this
Only one wire hanging from it? Isnt there more?
Is that wire on it positive or ground?
And i have no idea where it hooks up to, im just sitting here scratching my head?
Help anyone?

That is the positive. It grounds to the dash through the case. Hot wire usually runs with the radio wire harness back to the fuse block. If the fuse is good and you have a good ground at the dash (ie tight no corrosion around hole) then its prolly shot. They sell them at any auto parts store. Just make sure it is same diameter.

So can i just hot wire the cable to the radio somehow?
Or maybe even the brake?
Oh and do i also need a ground somewhere, or just positive?

Have you tried the gps app on a smart phone? A friends Mom's kia speedo went out and she had a trip planned, speedo is some elec thing at rear of tranny, I told her about the app and she used it to set her cruise control until she could get it fixed. Nice looking truck BTW, love that paint scheme.

See if you can find a large green wire close by. I just hooked mine up and it just plugged in . I haven't got to check it yet because my truck is still taken apart. You should have a fuse for it,don't want to start a fire if it shorted out .

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's grounded when you fasten it to the metal dash, no ground wire.

yes you can. should be a fuse already labeled cig or ltr. But any will work. should also be a spade clip or two on the fuse block you could use. they are there for addons
