Rebuilt my first carb today for the '47 1.5 ton. Even better is that the truck started to run!
Ran into a slight smoking issue in the front. The fan belt needs to be longer to allow the fan to be up higher and not run on the wires going to the points. Oops!
Live and learn, but glad it ran! Now to learn how to adjust the carb so it runs and idles smoothly.
yea know got mine home week or two ago and ck'ed plug wires they were not in all the way, burned the cap can't tell from out side.
new cap, rotor, wires runs real nice; leaks oil!!, leaks brake fluid!!, leaks hidro fluid @ dump rams
just a few$$$$

Congrats! It's always a good feeling when it starts for the first time. Depending on how long the truck has sat, the oil leaks will sometimes seal themselves after you run it a while. I had a few leaks on mine from the pan and the water pump, but they all seem to be fine now.
