74 cluster

on my f100 74 360 4speed 2wd
the cluster that on my truck shows 85 mph
its bad. so i found one on ebay it shows 100 mph
iam not sure if the cluster was the one that was on it or not.
loooking at one on ebay looks the same as the one that on it from the back of the cluster..
do you think it work ?
the one on ebay say came off 77 f100 360

also on back of cluster . it has 3' plug that plugs into cluster. on mine i don't see another plug for fuel. does that plug works for fuel as well ? or is their another plug or wire controll the fuel for the cluster.

The fuel gauge signal is part of the large connector that plugs into the back of the cluster.

AFAIK, the clusters from 73-39 are interchangeable. The only differences are:
85 or 100 mph speedo
idiot lights or gauges
black or silver

is it a plug and play???...I thought I heard someone saying that the hi-beam indicator is located elsewhere between the 2 clusters??..i never took the time to do a side by side comparison...if you do the swap let us know for sure

That should only matter if you have idiot lights or gauges.

If the instrument clusters interchange, will their seven different printed circuit boards also interchange?

Will their four different cluster backs also interchange?

Are you aware that the POS composition cluster backs used 1975/79 can TURN TO DUST before your very eyes?

Are you aware what FoMoCo did to solve the problem?

Bill, wasn't the issue w/ the high beam indicator more than just a guages vs. lights ???If I recall it was more of moved elsewhere on the cluster and not wired correctly, a guy changed it out and made up his own indicator light
