Am I crazy?

I posted this on another forum with no responses.

I am interested in a 2003 Excursion Limited. The owner put a lot of photos on craigslist and it looks immaculate. The photos linked to his photobucket with even more photos.

The only problem is that the Excursion has 260k on it. He's is willing to drop the price to $6,000.

Is it crazy to get a vehicle with this many miles? I've read about people getting over 400k on the v10 engine, but are those anomalies?

Here's the ad: Here's the ad:

Also, Could you guys look at these photos of underneath and see if you notice anything I should be worried about.

I also would pay that! I spent 7,900 on my 2000 limited with 270,000 on it! The truck looks clean and V10's are very easy to work on and cheap to maintain but That truck is a steal for 6,000.00.

Offer him more!!! that way my 65k mile 02 will be worth that much more!

Seriously, check the front end (BJ`s, bearings, steering) if all is good then jump on it!

What year did they add the driver grab handle? Man, I wish my 2000 XLT had that.

Is it worth $6K? That really is a tough call. I bought a 2000 XLT with 100K miles on it for $6K. Yes it is a XLT, cloth seats, but it has 160K less miles. I have around $10K into it now to make it how I wanted it. I bet you get can get it for $5K or less. Does he have repair records on it?

Also, just to point out a couple errors in the ad.

All Xs were 3/4 tons as far as I know.

Also, no 4th row seating unless it is custom.

I wouldn't sweat it if it has been well maintained and is rust free. Even if the engine goes there are alot of them still around. The yards here have them for under $500.

For the price it would be hard to go wrong. Negotiate him down some more and pick it up!

It's still a deal with bad ball joints, you will probably need them anyway with any hi mile ex you buy.

I like the fourth row. We are a family of six. All the friends and family could fit. I think the fourth row is from here: little passenger seats home page.

Average Black Book Retail is $6250. I would look for one with lower mileage.
