I believe its a banks, on my 92 F 350 2 whl drive dually with a sidewinder. can I get a probe somewhere or does it have to be a banks and is this most likely what is bad?
And yes, it's most likely the probe. There is a way to check the gauge that involves using an ohm meter on the back of the input probes, but I forget exactly how it goes.
Also, you do NOT have to buy the probe direct from Banks. Shop around. You should be able to find it cheaper pretty much anywhere else.
Thanks, I started reading your posts this am. I may not have run the truck hard enough yet to get it to register. I've only run it home from when I bought it abouts 16 miles.
Its not moving at all, It didn't appear after I ran it home that it came up at all. I was thinking it should come up some in the 15 or so miles I drove it home. But I really had no idea how low it would stay not pulling any load.
SORRY wondering what would cause a pyro to read way hotter than what the truck is actually running because if my exhaust temp was reading what the pyro says my engine would be a puddle in the oil pan... or on the side of the road... i know the gauge itself is a bullydog... and it has an electronic control box that the probe hooks too.... idk what could be going on with it... when i first got it...(buddy gave it to me) it all worked great... now.. the gauge pegs out and it reads up to like *2200 ... something like that
