starts when it feels like!!!
2000 F-150 V-8 4.6L 2WD
Battery is good, Alternator is good,
Truck will start and drive fine, stopped to get gas, tried to start but nothing happened. Lights come on, dash lights work. Acts like its not getting a signal to the starter to start. Is this possible. An hour later it will start, I started and stopped it several times than it happens again nothing. Help

Think maybe you should go over the battery cables and terminals and check grounds as the first thing to do?
Next do you hear a click when attempting to crank?
If yes, it could be the start relay or the starter.
If no, the circuit from the ignition switch through the transmission switch to the start relay may have a fault.

Thanks for the reply,
When it does not start there is no clicking, the ground is good. when it starts it starts strong, not like it has a weak connection. when it does not start there is nothing turn the key and all the correct dash lights come on, buzzers buzz. no indication that it won't start. The one thing i did was to pull all the relays and clean the contacts, since then it will start every time. but thats what it did before.

The circuit from the fuse through ignition switch through the transmission selector to the start relay is going open.
If you move the shift lever and it allows the starter to crank then the selector (DTR ) is either faulty ot out of adjustment.
Otherwise you have to track it down to find where it going open.
