I have a 200 Excursion with the 7.3L. It ran fine yesterday, loaded my enclosed trailer to move today and now it won't start. I did change the tune to the "tow safe" this morning, then back to stock and still only cranks. Shows good oil pressure cranking, and cen hear the pumps working. Where do I go now? CPS?
THanks in advance, I did a quick search for crank, with no start, but it didn't get me far.
weirdest thing, went back out to check fuses and cranked it one more time and it fired right up. Not sure what it was, but it's alive again. I'll have to find a few links to what the possible issues like this are so I can diag it quicker when it does go down.
Does your yellow Wait-to-Start light on the right hand side of the gauge cluster go out? If it doesn't, the PATS anti-theft system might need to be reset.
I have a cps on hand. Yes the wait to start goes out.
I messed around a little more when I got to where I am unloading, tried to put a tow tune in again and no start. Installed the performance tune and it started right up. I guess it's something in the tuner, I'll have to check for updates for it.
Who's tuner are you using? I had a Diablosport Predator that came when I bought my Ex. Upgraded to DP Tuner. I traded the old Predator for a newer one with more memory (I couldn't update the old one without spending $100+) because the guy wanted the older tunes. When I had to go for smog test in 08/2010, I tried the "New and Improved" (usually neither) Predator while I was making my DP easily removable. The Predator set up a fault in my PATS. I had to disable the PATS with the on-board tool options, use the Predator to get to the dealer, and then pay for a reflash of my PCM to fix the PATS issue.
Mine came with a Superships flashpac. It seems that it only will let it run in wither performance, economy, or stock. Hopefully I can get a free moment next week to see if there are updates.
The tuner I have was mostly for setting the speedo correct again. MAybe I should look into the dptuner to replace this one with. at least it's running and I won;t be towing anything over 8000# so it should be good for a while.
