I was looking at all the wires close and found the wires going to fuel pressure regulater are bare laying on each other. has any one had this problem? i'm hoping that is whats makinging it run crapy and miss a little. i know any bare wires are bad but wondering if any one delt with this.
Well, it's not the wires going to your fuel pressure regulator. The FPR doesn't have any wires going to it, it's just a spring, plunger and a housing. But I've seen many places list things as the fuel pressure regulator by mistake.
I'm guessing you're talking about the IPR (Injection Pressure Regulator). Yes if those wires are bare and rub on each other, they can cause all sorts of issues or even cause the truck to stall or not start. The IPR is down low below the fuel filter bowl on the driver side. If you're talking about the ICP (Injection Control Pressure) sensor on the inboard side of the head up high, then that can cause problems too.
I believe the IPR harness pigtail from International has the part number 2501107C1 08-1. Don't tell them it's for a Ford. If they ask, just say you don't know, they just sent me up here with a part number. International sells it cheaper than Ford does.
Dorman makes an ICP sensor pigtail you can get from the local parts store. I don't know if they make an IPR pigtail.
ok sounds good. its the one next to the fuel heater down low to the right. the chilton book calls it fuel pressure regulater, thats were i came up with name. i have a nother complet wire harness from a friend i may just change the hole thing out after i inspect that one. THANK YOU for info hoping that is the problem ben chasing this for about a month now
The fuel heater is on the back side of the fuel bowl, and not really that close to either the IPR or ICP. Let's try this so we're all on the same page.

Fuel bowl heater is the electrical plug, bottom left, in this pic
Sounds like you've either got a broken plug or a shorted fuel bowl heater. No big deal either way. You don't really need the fuel bowl heater, but that plug also runs your water in fuel warning light.
If you plug the fuel bowl heater back in and the truck won't start, it means you've got a blown fuel bowl heater. The heater shares the same fuse as the PCM power so when the heater blows, it kills power to the computer. Unplug the heater again, replace the 30 amp fuse, and it will start right back up. If you want the WIF light to work, then either replace the heater or pull the fuel filter unplug the wire and cut it off inside the bowl so you don't have a heater that's connected any more to blow the fuse.
