Hey guys Ive been running skyjacker nitro 8000 shocks and have noticed that my truck eats the metal sleeves inside the neopreme bushings they give you. Also their customer service is absolutly horrible. It took me over a year, ten phone calls to them, three to auto anything where i bought the shocks, and five emails from auto anything to skyjacker to get replacement bushings. Then the guy on the phone told me that its impossible my truck goes through so many bushings.
Anyway Im sick and tired of these shocks and need to look into new ones that will stand up to my truck. The problem with the ones now is that for some reason the sleeve actually ovals it self and then I hear a clunking up front. If i change the bushings and sleeves it goes away for about a month. The bolt never loosens, I have torque stripped it to make sure. Sorry to go on and on, but what shocks would stand up to the weight of the 7.3 and provide years of performance. I was talking to a coworker with a buddy who also has a 7.3 amd he said he went to a dual shock upfront?? I have heard really good things about bilstein shocks but not sure if thats the route to go.
I have tried several different brands over the years from the high dollar to the medium grade and have not had alot of success.I use my truck in rough river bottoms to get in and out so the shocks get used.I have heard good and bad about several manufactuers so I have basically gone with what Oreilly's or Autozoo carries. They have lifetime warranty so when they get to feeling spongy I pull them off, stick them in the saved boxes and go get new ones.
Never tried the duels for the front but I am sure thinking out it.My truck rides rough with the old style Tough Country leveling kit(added leaf springs)so maybe that would help mine out.
I would like to hear anybodies advice that has the duel shocks.
