You could also use the Altman latches if your have the set screw hole. I heard you can order them to use your stock handles and door locks... the only difference is you will only have to turn the key a 1/4 of a turn to lock and unlock...

I did see some on eBay but l don't have the tube that has the set screw only the access hole in the door jamb.

If I welded a tube to the lock mechanism would I have enough clearance to get it in.

I need to replace my door locks due to the fact I do not have a key for them. Can someone please tell me what size Allen wrench I need to remove the timy bolt? Is it too difficult to replace the locks? Thanks

Replacing the door locks is easy... if... you can break loose that little allen screw. I had to pound on it and spray it but finally got it to break. After that, it's a piece of cake.

I don't remember the size of the allen screw, but it is small.

I did have to modify the "new" lock to fit since the shaft was about 3/8" too long. But I made it work.

Why not just have a key made for the lock? Any experienced locksmith should be able to make you a key for $30-50. You'll be way ahead in time and money by having a key made.

Or spend big $$ and find a left hand door in Australia or Canada, as it was the passenger side for us it has the lock installed.

U.S. made 51-52 Ford trucks with the Extra (deluxe) options had the door lock on the driver's side.
