A buddy of mine has an 2004 E250 van that just recently, after changing the fuel filter, will not accelerate. When he tries to crank it cold, it takes a while and sort of knocks after you finally get it running. It will rev just fine in park or neutral but put the transmission in gear and nothing. Put the pedal on the floor and the engine doesn't rev at all. It won't even try to spin the tire while holding the brake.
What I'm trying to say is that the engine barely comes off idle when you put the pedal to the floor in gear. He told me that it would take him nearly ten miles to get it up to 55 on the highway.
Any thoughts? I'm new to the 6.0's but my dad has an 04 F250 as well so I'll probably need to be studying up on them. Thanks for any help.
My buddy changed the fuel filter on the top center of the engine. That's all I know. He told me that he put a "store" brand filter then went back and put a motor craft filter in after the van wouldn't run correctly. He was thinking that maybe the "store" brand filter was callapsing. Where is the other filter located?
Can anybody tell me where the second fuel filter is on an 04 E250 van with a 6.0? The guy changed the one on top of the engine. Where is the other filter located? On the frame rail or somewhere else near the engine?
