Outrageous price increases?

How does a truck go from 33k for a king ranch in 2004, to almost 70 grand for the same model today, a mere 8 years later? Did they start using 14k gold undercoating? Now, I know what you are going to say, emissions requirements blah blah, and supply vs demand blah blah, and increased R&D costs etc etc...

But seriously, check out prices of other vehicles in 2004, and compare them to the same models today, I have yet to find a car that increased in price over 100%? Is it because the auto makers are in the pockets of big government? And they don't want everyone to be able to afford a fuel guzzling monster? This has probably been gone over a hundred times, it just blows me away that a new SD costs so much!

Hardly

You couldn't even get a XLT 4x4 F-150 for that price. My 2006 F-150 had a MSRP of $42,000. I paid $32k after TT&L

I found the original sticker for my 06 F-250 Lariat CrewCab and it was over $50,000. A KR is significantly more

We're you talking about used trucks at $33k?

Prices have gone up, but we're talking a few thousand only. Not tens of thousands

Thats what I thought.

I could be wrong, but I think the cost of thee diesel engine is actually decreasing, while the truck price is increasing.

I guess I'm not sure then? Maybe I'm talking out of my ***, but on my registration, my 2004 says 25,235 for list price in feb 2004, when it was first registered? It's a lariat crew cab 4x4 diesel

The sticker on the truck in my signature was over 33,000. It's an 01 Crew Cab Lariat, 2wd, 5.4. I'm sure a 4x4 deisel King Ranch even in 01 was over 40,000.

Ok so I called a friend of mine that works in finance at a local dealer. He told me they put the list price of the vehicle brand new, before any options are added. So if my truck was 25, how much do I have in options, roughly? I'm just curious now of my original sticker price...

I don't know what it was "then", but I distinctly remember what the cost was on the 27th of last month.

Easily $20-30k in options. Motor alone was almost $6k I believe. Leather seats are typically about $2k. It goes from there

In the summer of 02 I bought a loaded up the max new 02 F350 4x4 V10 standard cab xlt truck and sticker was $33000, considering the diesel added $6000 and the king ranch could only be had on the extended or crew cab, at the bare minimum a kr diesel the sticker should be in excess of $40000 easy. At the time a standard cab xl F250 4x4 with the v8 had a $24000 sticker

Pretty sure even a gas King Ranch was over $40K. Original sticker price on my truck was $38K, and mine is just an XLT Supercab with a 5.4.

Back in 04' a King Ranch 4x4 CC V10 auto would sticker over $45k. I bought my new 04' XLT 4x4 SC V10 Auto in 04' with a sticker of mid $35k. With rebates I got it down to a little under $30k. To replace my truck now exactly the same would cost around $40k. So in other words there is no way any configuration KR SD would MSRP for $33k back in 2004.
