You mean where the running board meets the bottom of the front fender? I know that a company called EMS makes sheet metal parts for that body style. Or you can do it yourself if you can weld, you can bend some stock sheet to match the original area. Of course that depends on the size of the rotten area.Post some pics. Give us some idea of the area in question.
Reamer does make nice stuff, but his fender patches fit the F2-6 fenders, not the F-1's. For the amount of work it would take to modify them to fit the smaller wheel opening, it would be easier to make your own. Just my experience.
Hey Isaiah,
I used "Reamer's" cab corners in our 1950 F1. He also built us
some nice door sills & several other pieces. He's a nice guy - easy to deal with & fast. If you PM him with what you are looking for he may have what you need - never hurts to ask. (His name is Ron)
I would say give it a try yourself. I just picked up some 16ga. sheetmetal, made a pattern, and cut/bent it myself. I had to do all 4 of my fenders and they came out well, especially since I had never done body work before.
There was an article in Classic Trucks (or Classic Haulers) about the patch panels from EMS. The article described that modifications still had to be made to fit the patch panels properly. Instead of dropping $90 for each patch panel, you might be better off making your own.
BTW, I'm sure that all repro parts places resell EMS's patch panels, as they're the only ones making them.
I just fixed mine. Did not buy patch panels just cut out the old and welded in the new. Was not that hard. I may not be the greatest welder but got the job done. With a little filler looks good and should be there for a long time.
I am patching 52 front & rear fenders. Used EMS on rear of front fenders and had to build and patch on rear. Nothing is going to be a perfect fit as you may have to bend a little or patch a little. Like the rear cab patches, the pictures used by EMS & Carpenters were not exactly as pictured since they did not have some of the wrap into the door post and bottom pictured but I hope they are correcting the picts.
