Wanna see the very first Chris-Craft? It's in a Pasadena CA carriage house, along with the 1934 Cadillac that director Cecil B. DeMille gave his secretary (mistress), a dozen or so Packards and other old rolling piles of misery.

Swing on by, I know the owner, will take you over there for a look-see. We can also swing on by and take a look-see at the boat in La Habra Heights.

I really like old Chris-Crafts... The old 'Connies' had a lot of style, but I just don't have the time/patience for them, I've got too many hobbies to have a wooden boat!

Interestingly, There is a connection between the Lake N Sea that I've got and Chris-Craft. Lake N Sea boats were built by Chris-Craft in 1957/58 in Florida. It was their first attempt to build a fiberglass boat. They were dismal failures- and Chris Craft sold the brand and the molds to Parsons Corporation in Traverse City, Michigan, who built Lake N Sea boats in 58, 59, and a little into '60 before abandoning the idea, as they were losing money.

In the short time that Chris-Craft built them, they acquired the rather unfortunate moniker "Leak N Sink", which probably wasn't too helpful for Parsons when they went to sell them later!

The mirrors cleaned up quite well... Since they were all stainless, that just took a quick polish. The only parts that weren't stainless were all the nuts, bolts, and other Misc. fasteners, which were of course rusted badly. A little PB blaster and some elbow grease got them all off.

I replaced all the hardware with stainless, including the pivots on the top and bottom of the mirror. They had "t" bolts, which I had to make out of hex head stainless bolts since I couldn't find the right ones in stainless. I can see why Ford didn't use stainless hardware in the first place- That stuff adds up fast, Especially acorn nuts!

I temporarily mounted them on the truck, just to see how they looked-

Boy, are they wide- But I like it. It's got the 'farm truck' look I'm going for. I'd swap them out for the narrower mirrors if a set came along, but for now they will do.
