I replaced mine at 105k miles with the Innovative 48V. I could tell a difference in it running better. I still like it 30k miles later.

How do you know what voltage it is holding? How do you test it?

It is one of the pips I monitor with the Edge CTS monitor. I know the dealer can check it, plus there is a field way to test it, but I don't know the details.

A voltmeter works in the driveway, but is the hardest method to perform testing.

A Scanguage II or similar is the easiest. With a 6.0, you really should have something to keep an eye on a lot of things.

The Torque app with a Bluetooth OBDII adaptor also works great.

I had never had a problem with mine... Till i hooked up my CTS, found my FICM voltage was running low and would get up to voltage as it warmed up. Tried to repair it myself, and ended up breaking a few caps and resistors splitting the case. Luckily, I found a guy local to me that had newly rebuilt units for less than 200.00 w/ a core swap.

Throttle response is better and then there's the standard nondescript "It just runs better"...especially when it's cold out. It supposedly gets better fuel mileage but my driving styles vary so I could never get a true reading.

Many FICM's fail so gradually that by the time you get a new one, you are left with this feeling like 'so THIS is how my truck is supposed to run...'.
