a can of dregreaser and a rag work well for me

 

Degreaser works quite well, had a transmission cooler return line burst on a forester I was working on yesterday. Freshly rebuilt motor, so clean you could eat off it, filthy after like 30 seconds of running. Cleaned up nicely.
