fuel pump problems

hi, i have been checking this site out for a couple days nowlooking for solutions and finaly joined. i have an 86 f150 with a 302, mpfi, and dual tanks. after getting it home i realized that the fuel pumps on the rail, high pressure, and the front tank are hard wired to the fuse block. i have been reading alot about this somewhat typical seeming problem and have narrowed it down to afew things but not sure where to start diagnosing. for starters i an hear the fuel pump relay opening and closing so i know that has power. if anyone knows where i should start diagnosing the problem after this i would greatly appreciciate it. i believe it has something to do with either the tank selector switch because when i switch it to the rear the front still works but it is also hard wired so its hard to say.

What's your exact problem, will the truck run? All I got out of your post was the pumps are hard wired. Is that your problem, they run all the time?

the truck does run, the fuel pumps are hard wired to key power in the fuse block. i would like to get them working under the trucks original power source because right now if i want to listen to the radio i have to have the truck running. plus the fuel pump is getting full power so it is slowly burning it out.
