When removing the thermactor system which vacuum lines can stay and ones stay which ones can go, do you leave them all hooked up? What about the egr vacuum line etc. does that stay connected to a sensor?
In the middle of removing some of this stuff and I am loving the look of the engine bay with less in it!! just wondering if some of it has to go back in....
All vacuum lines attached to the TAB and TAD solenoids can go.. assuming you have remove the air injection system.
Unless you want codes and a check engine light. This device isn't part of the air injection system BTW.
I plan on keeping the egr system, my egr has a green vacuum line that is attached to my "vacuum harness" and goes to the sensors over by the tab tad area. I plan on hooking it back up just wondering if this needs to be hooked to the sensor or just to the vacuum chamber.
The 3rd vacuum device near the coil(the one at the front) is the EVR which stands for EGR Vacuum Regulator and this is where the green line from the EGR valve connects. You don't want the EGR valve connected to constant vacuum the motor would stumble and cough real bad, EGR is only opened partially at part throttle conditions and never at idle or WOT, and that is all computer controlled via the EVR solenoid.
The whole vacuum harness can be lifted off the motor fairly easily and then you can strip the tape and remove those lines that aren't necessary. Lines that should remain are to the fuel pressure regulator and the vacuum canisters(one for cruise and one for heater controls), and of course the EGR system.
P.S. To further minimize the codes that are set leave the TAB and TAD solenoids electrically connected after you remove the vacuum lines.

Thanks, I will leave them connected electrically, I have the harness off now and was in the process of doing this, there is a connector in the middle of the harness, do you just strip the unneeded ones and plug them at the cannister?
One more question I have a square box kinda under where the battery sits on the passenger inner fender, what is that for? I see it runs a hose to the throttle body...

Apparently it is a vapor canister for fumes coming from the gas tank, does anyone remove these? Is there an adverse effects to removing them? I am not sure what the metal lines are like going back is the reason I ask.
There is no benefit to removing the gas tank vapor canister and when connected it diverts fuel vapors into the engine where they can be used to make power so I suggest you leave it connected.
