64 f100 no brake lights

My turn signals work and the tail lights. I have no brake lights. I jumpered the two wires that go on the brake switch that screws into the master cyclinder. Still no lights. Any other suggestions?

get a test light and check the wires going to the brake light switch. One of them should have power going to it.

The 12v that goes to the brake switch comes from the turn signal switch. Check the connectors at the firewall and to the turn signal switch. In my case, I had corrosion at the fuse block preventing a good connection, as well as a bad turn signal switch. Get yourself a wiring diagram and trace out the wiring. Good luck.

ok I out a test light on one of the connectors and I have power in one on the connections that goes to the switch. I am assuming the switch is bad?

The stop (brake) lamp switch is pressure activated when you step on the brake pedal.

It's notorious for getting gummed up with dirty brake fluid, and as soon as this occurres, the little charmer no longer works.

This same switch was used from 1940 thru 1966 on myriad FoMoCo vehicles, so it's EZ to find.

C1AZ-13480-A (replaced 01A-13480) .. Stop Lamp Switch (Motorcraft SW-24) / Available from Ford and a gazillion autoparts stores.
