Ordered Bushings. Tips?

Well guys I ordered front and rear poly spring bushings and the axle pivot bushing.

I plan to drop the axle as Im close to needing brakes changed and the rotors are getting some shake. So I'm gonna pull the axle I think. Im gonna have it on a lift as I gotta pull the trans back out as the rebuilder messed a synchronizer up or it was a defect for second.

Any tips on the bushings? Blow them out with a torch on the springs and ball joint press for the frame?

On my phone sorry if its hard to follow.

While the front is out:

Replace brake pads turn rotors
New wheel bearings and seals
Change diff fluid
New rubber brake lines
New spring and axle bushings
Possibly shocks but not sure yet
Clean and paint

Anything else I should change while I'm that far in? May do tie rod ends.

Ball joints and such are only a year old. Just replaced u joints in the drive shaft about 2 months ago when the trans went. I can't think of much else to touch.

The rear is just getting bushings as the brakes are fresh and everything is good back there

Thanks guys for any ideas.

I tried burning the bushings out of my front springs and it didn't work, just stank really bad.

I did what DZLJim did, use a drill bit that's big enough to fit between the spring eye and the inner metal ring and drill the rubber out, drill it in several places around, then put some sideways pressure on the bit and it will walk around the bushing in a circle, once you have enough of the rubber broken up you can drive out the center ring and then the rubber will pop out.

The new poly bushings should slide right in with just a little pressure and maybe a smack with a rubber mallet. Just grease them up really good ahead of time.

I used a hacksaw blade to cut the sleeve of the bushing. Worked real well.

Where did you get the poly bushings? I think I'm gonna do polys when/if I do the D60 swap.

I knocked all the rust off with a wire brush and sandpaper, cleaned it as best I could, and then sprayed a few coats of Rustoleum gloss black on it. For the diff cover I used some left-over OD Green humvee paint, looks sick!

So far the paint has held up really well. Definately go with Rustoleum or similar, and I'd stick with gloss, doesn't hold dirt as well.

That's what I planned on. Slowly getting this thing cleaned up and stout before I add anymore go fast parts. The crappy ride is starting to tick me off worse. Its progressively gotten worse and after doing some looking the 216000 miles worth of work have wore the factory bushings out.

So Evan when you jumping on the plane to come help? Ill be waiting to pick you up.

I barely have time to breathe right now, let alone fly across the country! haha

I'm pretty much feeling the same way about my truck right now. I want to make sure everything is strong and stout before adding anymore power. Interior needs some work, new undercoating on the frame, replace the rear spring bushings, limited slip rear end, and put in a T500 and maybe E-fuel.
After that I'll work on getting some bellowed up-pipes, maybe a D66 turbo, intercooler, and water/meth.

I need to build a garage at my house. Always have to go to friends or papaws. Then I'm gonna really tear into her. Pull the cab and bed for paint and body work.

Well got the trans out and took to get fixed. Got one spring out and the bushings out. What a pita that is. Forgot the air chisel so I'm gonna try that method tommorow. Hope it works better. The old bushings are shot so I'm hoping she rides much better after this.

And for the record I'd rather pull and put back in the trans 3 more times then do these bushings again. 200000 miles of rust sucks.
