8.8 yoke question

I have an 87 F150 8.8 that needs replaced. I just picked up an 89 rear but it has a different yoke, one that has a round flange on it. I don't have mine here to look at, can't see it til Monday. So my question is will I be able to simply swap yokes so my '87 driveshaft fits? I do know my 87 does not have the round flange.

The easiest thing to do is put the round mating flange that goes on the driveshaft onto your driveshaft or install the driveshaft out of the doner truck(if it's the correct length)

Donor driveshaft too short. From a 4x4. So will the yokes interchange?

You should be able to swap the yokes, but you will need to measure the pinion bearing preload before taking it apart. You will also need a new crush sleeve and may as well replace the pinion seal while you can get to it. Then torque the new pinion nut little by little until you get back to the original pinion bearing preload.
