I had my ranger on the lift today for it's 70K service and when I had the rear tires off I rotated the hub and noticed that it was "lumpy?" By that I mean that it was like I could feel each spline connecting with its mate if that makes any sense.
Is this normal? Also, what is the maintenance interval for replacing the rear diff fluid? and what is the type and capacity? I looked in the bible but didn't find anything.

What you was probably feeling was the spider gears meshing and that is normal. I wouldn't worry about it unless you have a noise coming from the rear-end while you drive it.
