Coolant gone
I had an overheat issue about 1.5 months ago on a long uphill pull with my TT, as soon as I got out of the throttle temps returned to normal. Before overheat EOT & ECT were at 15 degrees. No coolant left in bottle on arrival at home. I refiled the bottle and have driven approx 300 miles since, non towing. I have been keeping an eye on the level and now it's about 1/2 gone in the bottle. I'm still showing about 18 degrees diff on temps. No white smoke on start up, no loss of power. here is my paln of action, please correct me if I'm wrong.1) Check perssure on line to degas bottle. I have the coolant filter can I leave it hooked up or should I bypass it?
2) pull EGR with truck facing downhill and check for fluid.
3) find a tall cliff set the cruse and jump before it goes over the edge.
I'm thinking EGR if so, I will have to have it repaired since I don't have a shop big enough to work on it. If this is the case what would you guys recomend to replace the EGR and Oil cooler. I want this done right so I wont have this problem again. Should I have head studs done while it's in the shop if the gaskets are not blown? and what kind of cost would be reasonable for these repirs.
Thanks

That's not what I wanted to hear. Will the pressure gauge on the degas line tell me head gasket or EGR? I have read a few threads on the search seems like HG issues will show a longer pressure spike correct? I plan on putting it in the shop on monday. I'm only about 5 miles from home and 10 miles to the repair shop
Will have it back in a couple of days and will report how well the ARP studs and oem gaskets are doing.
I ran my pressure gauge in-line with my coolant filter flowing and by-passed, same results.
Bulletproof makes a great EGR delete or by-pass if you choose.

A leaking EGR Cooler puts coolant into your cylinders well Liquid dont compress so it can lift heads due to high cylinder pressure
Bad HGs usually cause Puke
Bad EGR cooler usually cause white smoke and maybe puke
there was something else to it I cant remember right now
Def pull EGR Valve nose down let it run a few like that then shutdown and let cool then pull EGR
Good Luck with it
