Hey Neal,
Welcome Aboard! We've also got a 1950 F1 - it's a nice little truck.
Do you have pics you can post? You might get more useful info. if we could see what you are working with.

Do you need an F3 Parts truck? Hmmmm... Having a solid rust free cab is
worth 6 months of your time grinding & welding. If the F3 has a great cab & the F1 not so much I'd buy it & swap out cabs. The fenders don't fit & there are aftermarket sources for F1 fenders & beds. The dash board, doors, & hood are also tricky to fix up so if those are good on the F3 - might be worth it as well.

Good luck over there - Go buy that F1 & have fun! (All our Vin stuff was on a tag in the glove box).

OK, I can't seem to locate the source I had for all the codes, so here goes my best guess

1- (color) Black?
C - there was no C by itself, CH- Chicago, CS- Chester, Pa.
16- 16th day of the month
A- January
192- vehicle built that day

Hey Neal,
Looks like a great start - once you get them home &
sort them out a bit tell us what you think your plan might be.
Did you get them from the same guy?

Looking good!

They are at the same farm. But two different brothers. The F-3 was bought at auction over ten years ago. It is missing the radiator, tailgate, coil, gen.

My plan may change but I will swap the grill, heater core, blower, ***** cranks, some chrome etc. From the F-3 to the F-1.

The f-3 is in a lot better shape than the F-1 body wise.

I have two young sons (5 and 2) and they are going to get in on the repairs. I want them to learn how to do some of the repairs.

So I have sometime God willing to get the trucks done.

Thanks

Hello Neal,

Here's a decoder page. I don't know where I found this, but I captured a screen shot years ago....so here it is. And by the way....welcome to the forum!! So...is Neal your first name or your last name??

Oh....I forgot to mention...Dennis Carpenter is a good source for things like the FORD letters:

Dennis Carpenter Ford Car, F-100 Pickup Truck, 8N, 9N Tractor and Cushman Scooter Restoration Parts

They're probably also available through Classic Haulers, or Sacramento Vintage Ford.

Thanks Dan.

Neal is my first name.

Hope to bring them home on Sat.

Have about 40 miles one way.

It will be a slow go as I have a Dodge Dakota and a car trailer to move them.
