Also what parts are interchangeable between an F-1 And F-3?
Thanks
About all you can tell from the SERIAL # is that it is a 1950 F1 with a Flathead V8. The other information, ie date of manuf, color, build plant and production number is found on the stampings on the firewall.
F-1, 1/2 ton short bed F-3 3/4 ton/heavy Long Bed, other than suspension, box and wheels most everything is interchangeable.
Thanks. I also see that it has a branch code of KC. Does that mean Kansas City?
The reason I asked about the F-1 To F-3 parts interchangeable is that the glass is all broken and it might be cheaper to have a spare truck to get the parts from.
Is the stamping that has the other information stamped in a long number in the middle of the fire wall close to the top?

48-50 F-1 thru F-6, cabs are all identical. As for the glass, it is all flat and easily replaced, and local glass shop can do them very them very reasonably.
KC would be Kansas City

Cab, doors and interior will all interchange. The bed and all 4 fenders will be different. Hood, grille and assorted parts will be the same. Frame and suspension will all be different. Depending on what parts you need, an F3 truck may or may not be helpful. For glass, like harley said, you'll be money ahead to have a glass shop cut you new stuff. It'll look much better, too.
The number stamping you found on the firewall will have info like color code, build date code, assembly plant code and stuff like that. If you want to post it here, there's guys that can help with that.
I talked to the glass shop they can do it but the tempered glass will have to be special order.
I also have no heater core, no F O R D chrome letters, bad grill, and a green colored Gage cluster etc.
As for the price I can pick up the F-1 for $800. and the F-3 for a reasonable amount.
Thanks
Sounds like a deal, on both counts, if there's enough good parts on both trucks to make one.
You don't need tempered glass, unless you really want it. The original glass is laminated safety plate. It's easily cut and installed. That's what all windshields are still made from today. Tempered glass is just plain plate glass that has been heat treated, which is why it has to be sent out for tempering.
Not all 48-50 models were marked with the stamps on the center of the firewall. That is the only way you can find a marking for the original color for the 48-50 models
There should be a metal plate on the passenger side of the firewall, near the starter solenoid and horn relay. That will have the color, axle, etc.
Not on the 48-early 51's. The patent plate at the corner of the firewall only listed the serial number, and an abbreviation for the assembly plant in some cases. The other information didn't get included on the data tag until very late 51 when they revised the one in the glove box. They quit stamping firewalls then, too.
