Exclamation Need CCV Mod Help

After reading on the subject extensively I have a few questions if I may.
Open system- 1'' hose to a Folgers can & plugging the intake = odor?
Closed system- returning the oil-free ventilation back to the intake after being "filtered"= no odor?
Are there any pros/cons of one or the other? I need to do this this weekend just not sure what to do. I'm losing 3qts of oil every oil change & my boots are soaked. Any info on the subject would be deeply appreciated.
