NEED HELP QUICK

Hey all, just lowered my 73 with beams and a flip kit. The trouble I'm having is getting the right shocks. I have no problem measuring but how do I figure the total travel of the shock? If I measure with the weight of the truck with no shocks is this the measurement I want???? Trying to get these ordered today so if anyone is on I could use a hand figuring this out. Thanks!!!

The most important measurements are going to be installed height (eye to eye at ride height) and compressed length (eye to eye on the bump stop). Using the shock as a bump stop will shorten it's length dramatically! You will probably never see full extension on a low rider, so that measurement is not nearly as important. In fact, in lots of lowered situations, a shock short enough to not bottom out cannot be long enough to allow full down travel. If it makes you feel warm and fuzzy, get some limiting straps made like the desert race guys run. The main benefit will probably be that you won't have to jack the frame up as high to change a tire. At least you'll know the shocks won't get jerked apart if you jump a railroad track or anything!

In all reality, the shock mounts on your dropped beams are likely in the same place they were on the stock beams, so stock shocks will be fine up front. In the back, if you didn't ditch the bump stops and c-notch, you didn't add any compression travel, so again, stock is ok. If you find it bottoms excessively, c-notch and get shorter shocks!
