Transmission/engine plate noise

Transmission/engine plate noise
Ok guys. I have removed the plate that is vertical between the transmission and engine and put high temp sealant around it to keep it from vibrating. Well the noise is back again. I have not taken the plate off but I know that the noise is that plate again. How important is that plate? Can it be removed? If not, what are other fixes.

Leave it on, that is an inspection plate that exposes the flywheel and torque convertor. While these are not really internal engine components I don't suggest leaving them exposed to the elements.
I went to the hardware store and picked up some thin rope style insulation for screen doors and such. Sticky on one side, I simply lined the portion of the plate that contacts the trans and done. No more rattle..
