intercooler

Im really considering a new intercooler since I have heard they do lower EGT and help with the trans cooling. My question is if I bought an intercooler from lets say silverstateford for a 6.0 will it be a drop in replacement for my 01 f250? If not where could I get something that will help reduce trans temp and egt and not break the bank?

thanks,

-AJ

how much is breaking the bank? the 6oh i/c will fit in the stock location but youll need new boots for the tube to i/c connection....imo its better to get something like a spearco - tapercore - or DI i/c.......they arent cheap but worth it.....somebody on here runs a spearco and i run a tapercore.....i love my tapercore but it comes with a hefty price....you can get one a little cheaper than the tapercore by getting a spearco or DI unit but its only like 200 bucks cheaper.....the tapercore is MASSIVE.....

No intercooler will effect trans temps, they have nothing to do with each other.

6.0 ic is a waste of money, does not drop temps in anyway.

now the reason that im looking into an intercooler is because the other day when towing i was pushing about 1000 to 1100 egt and 200 trans temp stock. If i was to cool the trans down would i have to get a different trans cooler? and for the egt the intercooler would work??

breaking the bank would be 1500 or more but if it will help ill have to spend the extra money. If i was going to do something id want something priced well and something that will perform great.

thanks,

-AJ

I would invest in a 6.0 trans cooler before the 6.0 IC. If you are towing hills, that temp on EGT is fine. Also depends on what tune you are towing in with the Bully dog chip.

I have a SPERACO 6.0 which requires taking the front bumper off so you can relocate or bend the trans cooler lines and space the radiator because it's twice as big as FORDS!!, and if someone on here does not think it lower's egt's, think again.

I'm using the stock setting on my chip. Now where could I find a 6.0 trans cooler? And is it a direct replacement? Also riff raff has a deep trans pan with cooling fins. Would I be worth wild to maybe look into that along with the cooler?

check for leaks on the up pipes, and around where the CAC boots are. If must, remove the tubes, and clean the boots if nasty looking. if soot is present on top where the up pipes collect to the collector (behind turbo), then that would add to higher egt #'s.

You can get the 6.0 trans cooler from Clay (riffraff) or Tousely Ford and yes it will drop right in but the fittings are different but you can get those from Clay also or your local hardware store. I wouldnt get the deep trans pan if you get the trans cooler. Your temps will drop alot with the 6.0 trans cooler. I have the Banks I/C and it dropped my EGT's 250* but it was pricey. I plan on getting another I/C for my X when the money comes available.

He must have discontinued them. I was just looking at them 2 weeks ago under Hot New Products on his home page and he was selling them for $308 I believe. Thats a bummer.
