i have an 87 ranger, 2.3 4cyl. 2wd 5 speed
when i start up the truck after it sits for a few hours it will idle fine but then it starts to bog down and wants to stall but after about 5 mins its fine and runs like a champ.
i don't know if its a sensor or what.
Do you have a CEL lit, if so scan the computer & post All trouble code Numbers, as they can offer up good trouble shooting clues.
If no codes found, could be a number of things, like fuel delivery, acting out IAC, ect, so have you done any tests yet????
Did the problem come about suddenly after some event, or slowly over time????
Is the vehicle up to date on All past & present due scheduled maintenance items????
i took over working on a 94 ford ranger 5 speed, runs rough. i am confused that when i unplug the plug on the alt. it runs alot better, but as soon as i plug it back in it spits sputters and dies.. i was told that the timing belt, alt, spark plugs, and wires also the crank sensor have been relplaced. i am getting codes for egr and pip.
